The breeze of the sea, the wistful strong tall trees, and the plethora of sandy beaches – I was instantly fascinated by the nature of Negombo, Sri Lanka. In the midst of my awe towards Negombo’s beauty, I rediscover myself. I remembered the moments that made me happy and how beautiful this world is even with its instances of chaos.

Located on the outskirts of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, Negombo is known for its beaches. Coming here during the off-peak holiday season, the beaches were empty and rather peaceful. Sitting on the beach over-looking the sunset accompanied by the sound of waves became the perfect end of the day.

Just a few trips away from the waterfront. standing powerfully is the Sirigaya, an ancient rock fortress in the Matale district.

With its 450m height above the sea level, it has been referred as the 8th wonder of the world. Surrounding Sirigaya is the remains of a ruined palace. A short hike to the top of the rock gives you a prospect of Sri Lanka’s scenic greenery.

With its stunning beaches, boundless green forest, and welcoming people, SriLanka was a picture of nature’s harmony at its finest.
